Italy’s ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo has been killed in an attack on a UN convoy. The country’s foreign ministry said the ambassador was travelling in the United Nations convoy when it came under fire near Goma, in the east of the DR Congo. 43-year-old Luca Attanasio died in hospital on Monday, according to officials. Libyan Rebel LeaderFifty four people have died while trying to sail from Libya to Italy in an inflatable boat, the United Nations refugee agency has said. The only survivor, found by Tunisian fishermen, said the others had died of dehydration during a 15-day voyage.
