Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa: Alvarez and Ranger storm the sand

South Africa's Ford RacingANTOFAGASTA, CHILE, 15 January 2014 – Lucio Alvarez and Ronnie Graue powered their Ford Ranger to ninth place in today’s 10th stage of the Dakar Rally from Iquique to Antofagasta in Chile.
The Team Ford Racing duo were as high as fifth this morning as the test twisted and turned through their favoured sand dunes near the Pacific Ocean coastline. It provided the perfect antidote to yesterday’s frustrations when they became bogged down in thick sand for 40 minutes just 20 km from the finish.

That time loss meant Alvarez started well down the running order from Iquique this morning. However, the Argentine swiftly passed a string of stranded cars and trucks during 75 km of sand, from which he emerged fifth fastest.

South Africa Team FordROSARIO, ARGENTINA, 4 January 2014 – Team Ford Racing’s Dakar Rally adventure is finally under way after an estimated 1-million people packed the centre of the Argentine city of Rosario this evening to watch a spectacular and colourful riverside start ceremony. 

Fans lined the roads many deep alongside the Paraná River to cheer the 439 competing vehicles on their way at the start of the gruelling 14-day, 9 300 km trek through Argentina and Chile.

Team Ford Racing set for Dakar Rally 2014

Ford Motor RacingROSARIO, ARGENTINA, 3 January 2014 – With just one day to go before the official opening of Dakar Rally 2014 in the host city of Rosario, Team Ford Racing is ready and geared up for its debut on this legendary event.

The crew from Neil Woolridge Motorsport (NWM) in South Africa and South Racing in Europe arrived in Argentina on 29 December and spent the ensuing four days preparing the two Team Ford Racing Rangers, T4 race truck, two assistance trucks and five Ranger support vehicles at Ford’s Pacheco Plant in Buenos Aires.
