Liberia arrests 11 Ghanaians for engaging in illegal mining

– – Liberian officials have arrested eleven Ghanaians for engaging in what they call ‘illegal gold and diamond mining’. – – Ghanaian officials have confirmed the death of five people after a mining pit collapsed on them. Officials in Chad say a landslide at a gold mine in northwestern Chad has killed about 30 people. Defence Minister Mahamat Sala told Reuters that the mine, collapsed early on Tuesday. Ghana: Security guard of mining firm Newmont found dead

A security guard working with Newmont Goldcorp Ghana has been found dead in the company’s Ahafo mine property. Local media Joy FM reported that the guard was found dead on Friday, July 26 after a confrontation with illegal artisanal miners. The confrontation occurred on Thursday July, 25.
