Britains Tony Blair Ends Political Advisory Mission in Malawi

Tony Blair and President Joyce BandaLilongwe, January 5, 2014 (MaraPost) A group of British political advisers, led by former Prime Minister Tony Blair, will leave Malawi later this month after concluding their advisory sessions to the government of this African country.

The collaboration of the Africa Governance Initiative (AGI) with President Joyce Banda comes to an end in January after an agreement between the parties, said a state notification.

Former Malawi Justice Minister arrested over shooting of top government official

Ralph Kasambara arrestedBlantyre, Malawi, Nov.  (MaraviPost) _ Malawi’s former Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara has been arrested in connection with the September 13 shooting of Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo, police have confirmed.

“Mr. Kasambara was arrested at his house in (the capital) Lilongwe last night in connection with the attempt on the life of Mr. Mphwiyo,” police spokesman Kelvin Maigwa told maravipost Friday morning. “We have gathered evidence which suggests that Mr. Kasambara was involved in the shooting.”
