Vote counting underway in Zambia’s general elections

– – Vote counting is underway in Zambia following the general elections in the southern African nation on Thursday. Millions of people voted in what is seen as a hotly contested general and presidential elections. Zambia: Concerns raised over unfair playing field ahead of August 12 poll

Zambia’s President doing well after collapsing at public event

– – Zambia’s President Edgar Lungu has assured citizens that he is well after collapsing while attending a public event. He was presiding over the national defence day on Sunday when “he experienced sudden dizziness” in the capital, Lusaka. In a statement, the Secretary to the Cabinet Simon Miti indicated that the president “is well and has continued to discharge his duties”.
