Tournament format and prize money announced

  • FIFAe Club World Cup 2021 to be played out remotely from 24 to 28 February
  • Zone based online competition format and prize money allocation confirmed
  • Six zone final winners at the end of the competition

FIFA has today announced the tournament format and prize money allocation for the FIFAe Club World Cup 2021™. Taking place from 24 to 28 February, this year’s pinnacle event for competitive EA SPORTS FIFA clubs will feature 42 teams from six different zones.

The world’s best clubs will compete for ultimate glory on the biggest stage while the players will carry their badge to compete for a total prize pool of USD 245,000 at the six zone finals additionally to the USD 105,000 in prize money distributed after the online qualification. To protect the safety of all players and supporters, the event will be played out remotely with players competing from home or from their club house. Over 480 teams started their journey to the FIFAe Club World Cup 2021 while only the very best from each zone will make it to the zone finals. The qualified teams will be determined after the last qualifying week on 22 January in Zone 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 as well as after the additional playoffs in Zone 4 on 28 January. Results and rankings are available on FIFA.gg.

Event format:

  • 24 Feb: Group stage zone 4 and 5
  • 25 Feb: Group stage zone 1, 2, 4 and 6
  • 26 Feb: Group stage zone 3 & knockout stage zone 4 and 5
  • 27 Feb: Finals zone 1, 3 and 5
  • 28 Feb: Finals zone 2, 4 and 6

Competition format: Six individual zone finals with one winner per zone.

Zone 1, 2, 3 and 6 will be played in a round-robin group stage with four (4) clubs participating in each zone. All group stage matches are played as best-of two (BO2). Within each zone the two (2) best clubs from the group stage will advance to the final, where they will compete in a best-of-five format (BO5).

Zone 4 will be played in a round-robin group stage with two (2) groups of seven (7) clubs in each group. All group stage matches are played as best-of two (BO2). Four (4) clubs from each group will advance to a single-elimination knock-out stage. Quarter-finals and semi-finals are played as best-of-three (BO3). The final will see the two best clubs from Zone 4 battling it out in a best-of-five (BO5) format.

Zone 5 will be played in a round robin group stage with four (4) groups of three (3) clubs in each group. All group stage matches are played as best-of two (BO2). Two (2) clubs from each group will advance to a single-elimination knockout stage. Quarter-finals and semi-finals are played as best-of three (BO3), while the final will be played in a best-of-five (BO5) format.

Prize money

A total prize pool of USD 245,000 will be awarded to the participating teams at the zone finals. The distribution is based on the number of participating teams per zone.

An additional prize pool of USD 105,000 will be distributed at the end of the FIFAe Club Online Qualifiers leading up to the FIFAe Club World Cup 2021.
