Oba Lurge, the Nigerian rapper, has signed a deal with Universal Music Nigeria, the record label, ahead of his fourth extended play (EP).
The musician announced the deal in a statement sent to TheCable Lifestyle.
According to the rapper, the project — billed for release in August — will feature guest appearances from established and fast-rising singers including Iyanya, Crossroadz, Holyfield, Mk, and Billiebeats.
Oba Lurge also said he is working on his next single titled ‘The Return Of Ojua Ojupang.’
The rapper said the project is a eulogy for his maternal great-grandfather, Ojua. He disclosed that Ojua was a musician in the 60’s from a village called Bashu in Boki LGA, Cross River state.
He said his great grandfather was nicknamed Ojua Ojupang (killer of lion) after killing a lion on his farm.
“I feel a lot like my great grandfather and learning about him helped me understand myself better I see a lot of his traits in me, it feels like I’m a reincarnation of him and it feels good to be reborn,” he said.
“I always wondered where the love and drive for music sprang from after making music for over 10 years without making any money off it.”
Oba Lurge has continued to pull the weight of fame since he released ‘Uncle London’, his hit single, in 2019.
