Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has taken to social media to tell his side of the story after he was called out by an investigative journalist identified as Temitayo Adetoto.
Kuti in a video shared on his official Instagram page started off by explaining that he isn’t one that is typically drawn to drama which is why he enjoys staying on his own.
He, however, noted that his place of residence around the Ikeja area of Lagos has not been the same since investors started putting up hotels and event centres for their selfish interest while making the place uncomfortable for residents.

Addressing the issues raised by the journalist, Kuti said that a party going down in the area started around 9am and it was hard for him to get any sleep after long hours of working.
Kuti, however, said he endured the loud music until it was time for him to leave the house in the evening and he discovered that cars had littered the street with one particularly parked in front of his building.
“I opened my gate, these people, they have blocked my gate. They parked directly in front of my gate and two of my other neighbours’ gate. For twenty minutes I was looking for this bastard. My neighbour was trying to drive into his house because he was there before me waiting to enter his house and nobody was answering him until I came outside and raised the tempo.”
According to the singer, after he raised his voice, some of the party organizers went to fetch the individual who parked in front of his building.
Kuti claimed that the individual was gallivanting when he arrived like a ‘powerful individual’ and admitted to slapping him when he didn’t move his vehicle as requested of him.

Narrating further, the music star said the man who parked his vehicle wrongly was already moving it but the situation escalated after the party organizers summoned their bouncers to the scene.
Kuti claimed that the bouncers came to accost him in front of his house which led to a violent exchange. He also said he eventually told the bouncers to leave his house as well as other people who tried to apologize for what had happened.
The incident, however, took another turn after Kuti claimed he was already in his car trying to leave when another guest’s car ran out of fuel and broke down.
He said while he was waiting for them to sort the issue, a bouncer allegedly approached him and threatened to deal with him. The singer said that was when the real fight started.
Kuti said they beat up the bouncers and went as far as tearing their uniforms. Although the singer did not categorically admit to pulling out a gun at the scene, he confirmed that there were gunshots.
He said:
“Yes, there were gunshots because men dey! Men dey, this is fucking Allen fam! I didn’t come to your hood. You won try rubbish you think say gun no go sound. You threaten my life for my hood, say gun sound?”
