The Coding for Employment program opens doors to digital jobs for African women and youth

The African Development Bank’s Coding for Employment program, in partnership with Microsoft, is on a mission to raise a critical mass of digitally enabled African youth through demand-driven ICT and soft skills training and by linking youth to opportunities.

The COVID-19 crisis has accelerated the need for digital skills to adapt to the changing nature of doing business and interpersonal interactions. However, African youth still lack access to relevant digital training and matching employment opportunities. For women, in particular, the digital gender divide results in low digital literacy often means loss of opportunities and further marginalization.
