Taking Namibia to Nigeria

DANCER, content creator and actress Cassie Jessica says she will soon be releasing a film she narrated.

The film was shot by Nigerian The Greenade Company, where she is currently doing her internship.

Jessica says she relocated to Nigeria four months ago and has since taken up different opportunities that will take “Namibia to Nigeria”.

“I’m passionate about acting. With so many opportunities here, I have decided to take Namibia to Nigeria. I’m working on a film written by myself and shot by The Greenade Company. A little hint, Mee Gwachiimi . . . ” she says.

Jessica says she recently rubbed shoulders with Nigerian record producer Don Jazzy, as well as Kizz Daniel.

“Don Jazzy is so cool, I call him my father because his energy is so vibrant. He gives great hugs, and he has Beetle car paintings around his house, and I love Beetles.

“Kizz Daniel is just a vibe! We went to his studio, and four hours later we remembered we have a home. I’m blessed to have met them as they have opened my eyes about the industry,” she says.

She says she has also met singers Koredo Bello, Fire Boy and Funke Akindele.

“All thanks to my best friend Taaooma, a Nigerian comedian, content creator, cinematographer and social media influencer. She introduced me to all of them, and so much that Nigeria has to offer.”

Jessica says the Namibian creative industry has the potential to grow if it wasn’t “lazy”.

“Nigerians take the entertainment industry seriously, just like any other job, and they are appreciated for it. Namibia only had the NAMAs, which is no more! Nigerians have five award shows a month, and they award every genre, not just music.

“I remember someone asked me to give them a Namibian film/movie on Netflix to watch, but until now it’s just ‘Baxu and the Giants’. So many things are lacking, but I believe I will contribute to making Namibia great in the entertainment industry.”
