Ghana records outbreak of H3N2 flu in schools

Ghana’s Health Service has confirmed an outbreak of H3N2 flu in some schools in the Eastern part of the country. Over 400 students have been quarantined over the outbreak of Varian Virus disease in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality. The schools affected are Krobo Girls Senior High School, Akuse Methodist Senior High Technical School and Legacy College – a private school. Threat of flu-like illness that could kill 80m people in 36 hours

A flu-like illness could travel around the world in 36 hours and kill 80million people, experts have warned. A century ago the Spanish flu pandemic infected a third of the world’s population and killed 50million people. If a similar outbreak were to happen with today’s constantly-traveling population, the effects could be even worse, a report has suggested.
