Google released it’s list for the year with Davido’s FEM making the ‘Most Searched Song’ in Nigeria. Another big win for the DMW honcho.
However, another category that has caught our attention is the ‘Top Trending People’ in Nigeria.
One would assume; Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy Falz and co., would have made the list. Contrary is the case as Naira Marley, Rema, Laycon, and Omah Lay have dominated the list.
POSSIBLE REASONS
NAIRA MARLEY has always been controversial. The year kicked off with the singer being in court for alleged cyber crimes. During the pandemic lockdown, the singer was again arraigned for flaunting lockdown rules.
These have kept the singers names on everyone’s search bars and lips.
REMA, having bagged several nominations this year, also got an offer from WEMA Bank after messing with their logo. He also made UK Black Music Chart Top 10, debuted on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart and a couple other achievements.
LAYCON, the recent winner of Big Brother Naija, was also an artiste before he entered the house. He won and featured on ‘Nobody,’ a hit single by DJ Neptune and Joeboy.
Laycon is a an act to watch out for.
OMAH LAY who happens to be the latest vibe in town, is still garnering fans all over the globe. With the singers latest EP’s, Omah is surely the talk of the town.
