Kenyan musicians who built successful businesses

Kenya has some of the finest and famous musicians in Africa who have, besides entertaining people, built successful businesses.

Unlike in the past when musicians made their income by selling compact discs (CDs), the music industry has evolved over the years, with artistes now earning millions from streams.

Bahati whose real name is Kevin Mbuvi Kioko, is one of the youngest successful artistes in Kenya.

The 27-year-old grew up as an orphan in ABC Orphanage Home from seven when he lost his mum. His father had died earlier.

He rose to fame in 2013 when he released his first single and video titled Siku Ya Kwanza.

Kenyan award-winning afro-pop band, Sauti Sol, has an estimated net worth of $ 20 million (KSh 2.2 billion).

Formed in 2005, it is composed of vocalists Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, Savara Mudig and guitarist Polycarp Otieno.
