Controversial Musician Portable Arrested for Unpaid Debt on G-Wagon Purchase

Controversial Nigerian musician, Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for failing to settle the remaining balance on a G-Wagon SUV he purchased from a car dealer in Lagos.

Portable, known for hit songs like “Zazuu” and collaborations with artists like Olamide, paid only N13 million out of the N27 million worth of the vehicle and refused to pay the outstanding N14 million.

Efforts by the car dealer to get him to pay the balance were fruitless, leading to his eventual arrest by police operatives on Tuesday.

The arrest of Portable was not devoid of drama, as he attempted to escape from the officers, but was apprehended.

Portable has been embroiled in several controversies since rising to fame, facing multiple legal and public disputes.

In March 2023, Portable was arrested on charges of threatening the life of one of his signees after resisting arrest and being arraigned in court.

His outburst with dancer Poco Lee came after his hit track “Zazuu” featuring Olamide, where he accused the dancer of dishonesty regarding funds from a show with Wizkid.

Portable also had a public rift with his own manager, Kogbagidi, leading to his departure from the record label.

In another incident, he engaged in a public altercation with Onlyone Kesh, manager of his ex-signee Young Duu, accusing them of breach of agreement.

Portable was involved in visa issues in Canada in 2022, where he was removed from a concert lineup due to his alleged unprofessional behavior, causing organizers to write to immigration to deny his visa application.
