I’m telling story of streets through music — Scope

A budding singer, songwriter, actor and entrepreneur, Babalola Babatunde, aka Scope the Entertainer, has described his sound as being one with a lot of diversities.

In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, he said, “I am a versatile entertainer with my own type of sound, which has lots of diversities. To sum it up, I can be described as a 360 degrees entertainer. My style of music is a combination of afro-fusion, fuji, afrobeats, and afro-pop.”

Listing the highlights of his career, he said, “I have had a lot of great performances, including at popular shows such as ‘AY Live’, ‘One Lagos Fiesta’, ‘Greater Lagos Show’, ‘The Oxymoron of Kenny Blaq’, ‘Jimmy’s Jump-Off’, Small Doctor’s ‘Omo Better Concert’, and Davido’s ‘Welcome to Dubai Yacht Party’.”

Speaking on the inspiration behind his latest project titled, ‘Sound From the New Street’, he said, “This is my first body of work, and it is an introduction to my sound and style of music. It is basically a way for the world to connect with me through my sound. My sound is unique and original to me; I am bringing another sound from the new street. I was born and raised in the streets, so I can tell the story of the streets through my music.”

He continued, “The realities of my life inspired this project. Most of the songs on it were recorded since 2020, after my successful hit song, ‘Zombie’, was released in 2020.”
