Ghanaians mourn lady stabbed to death by her brother after fight over chores

Ghanaians have been reacting with shock over news that a man stabbed her own sister to death after a fight over who should perform a particular chores.

Police in Evanston in the state of Illinois said they have charged 26-year-old brother of Karen Aphour with first degree murder.

Karen Aphour, 30, a former Ghanaian civil servant, died in the US after getting into a fight with her brother over household chores, the police said.

In a statement the police said “the victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital by the Evanston Fire Department where she was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses informed responding officers that the offender was Karen Aphour’s brother, Andy Aphour. Andy Aphour was still in the residence and was taken into custody by Evanston Police without incident.”

The statement continued that “During the investigation Andy Aphour admitted to stabbing Karen Aphour. The stabbing was proceeded by a verbal dispute over routine household chores. Witness statements corroborated Andy Aphour’s admission.”

“Andy Aphour was given 300000D bond with the special condition of surrendering his passport. His next court date is May 2, 2022, at 09:00 at the Skokie Courthouse,” the statement concluded.
