End of year message: 2013 was a year of great accomplishments.

Posted 30 December, 2013

As we come to the end of 2013, we would like to take this moment to thank all our party members, supporters, media fraternity, human rights advocates, diplomatic missions, Government of Rwanda, friends of Rwanda and the international Greens family, for the support rendered in the great accomplishments the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda achieved during 2013.

This year was both challenging and successful; the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, finally got official registration on 9th August 2013, after having struggled for four years. The registration struggle was officially launched on 14th August 2009.

After the registration, we established some of the most important party decision making structures, which include the National Executive Committee and the Party’s Political Bureau. The party also established management committees in all the five provinces of the country, including the City of Kigali.

The Political Bureau approved the party’s political platform in November. This platform will be the guiding document on different party polices in the next four years.

DGPR also hosted the East African Greens Congress, which established the sub-regional East African Greens Federation, with headquarters in Kampala, Uganda. It is part of the African Greens Federation, headquartered in Burkina Faso.

Looking ahead to 2014, we shall continue the transformation process from the registration struggle phase to a normal functioning political party inside the country.

We are gearing up to some key milestones among several priorities, which shall include: setting up of party committees in the different 30 districts of the country and conducting a capacity building program for party members.

On behalf of DGPR, we wish to thank you all for supporting us and the democracy cause in Rwanda. Please accept our best wishes to you and your families for a joyful holiday season and a very happy New Year 2014.

President, Democratic Green Party of Rwanda
