To commemorate International Anti-Corruption Day, the Office of Integrity and Anti-Corruption (“PIAC”) of the African Development Bank is organizing a roundtable themed “Recover with Integrity – Adapting the Fight Against Corruption to the New Normal,” on Wednesday 9 December 2020.
Since the passage of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in 2003, the International Anti-Corruption Day has been observed on 9 December annually. This day is also known within the Bank as PIAC day.
The roundtable aims to address the unique challenges and opportunities in the fight against corruption wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes we need to make to minimize corruption on the continent.
This year’s celebration will be different from previous years; it will be an online event, a reflection of the New Normal
Objectives of the roundtable:
- Understand the emerging corruption related risks and opportunities brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic;
- Address the challenges in the fight against leakages due to corruption which have been exacerbated by the pandemic;
- Share evolving techniques in the fight against corruption in the “new normal; and
- Cause better preparedness in addressing such crises in future.
