The reasons 79 ACP countries are turning their backs on the  EU’s NPA

By Janet Karim

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91:1-4

November 15, 2023, came and delegations began to make their country statement to support or not to support the New Partnership Agreement, that will take over from the ACP-EU Cotonou Agreement that ended in 2019. The EU NPA, New Partnership Agreement treaty, must be stopped! The seventy nine members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states and their allies must bring an end to the megalomaniacal agenda in the EU has drafted into the NPA. They must say No to slavery, No to re-colonization, No to loss of voting rights at international forums, No to manipulative strategies that force countries to devalue their currencies. Most of all, the 79 countries should regroup and align themselves with real partners for development to stop the centuries-old boxing of the African continent, the Caribbean and Pacific member states.

A sigh of relief is circulating the airwaves as many countries have not signed the document; these are Nigeria, Uganda, Namibia, South Africa, Rwanda, Mali, Botswana, Jamaica, Malawi, Tanzania and others like Cuba, Palau, Tonga.

It is regrettable the EU has created in bad faith, a highly deceptive abortion, comprehensive and sexuality education (CSE), transgender, sexual rights and treaty binding segments as follows:

1. The EU converted the treaty into a “human rights” treaty making “human rights” an “essential” element of the treaty. This means no amendments or reservations on over 100 references to human rights will be allowed. This is definitely a cultural war!

2. The EU then inserted requirements to implement other documents, which in turn require the legalization of abortion and to mainstream comprehensive sexuality education, transgender rights, sexual rights for children, and much more into national laws and policies.

3. The EU slipped in many euphemistic terms to commit treaty parties to also:

Support a “global order” and global governance with the UN at its “core.”

Mainstream “gender equality” (i.e., transgender equality) in all laws and policies without defining gender as male and female.

Cooperate fully with UN human rights mechanisms, many of which define human rights to encompass abortion, sexual and transgender rights, and CSE and sexual rights for children.

Vote at the UN with the same positions as the EU creating a super bloc which will have a monopoly. From its 27 member status, with the 79, the EU voting power changes to 106.

Allow treaty provisions to supersede national laws and agreements with other countries.

Give their national sovereignty to a Council of Ministers co-chaired by the EU that has power to make binding decisions on all the parties.

And this only scratches the surface of the many, many serious problems. Take a look at Wednesday’s vote on the Tax Treaty. The vote results are 125 countries, mostly from the south and Asian countries voted Yes to the resolution. All western and northern countries (the industrialized countries) 48, voted no, with 9 abstaining.

The 48 No countries includes all the EU, US. This is a clear indication the countries in the North and west exist to use African as a provider of raw material of such minerals gold, silver, uranium, copper, rubies, and agricultural products. These the western industrialized countries carry to their industries and produce stuff for Africa, Caribbean and Pacific countries to buy.

That is the nasty global equation. REALLY NASTY. This is because the nations of the north and the west do not want anything of developmental consequence to take place in Africa, Caribbean of the Pacific.

There are three things that you as a citizen, you can do.

1. Get to understand the harm of the main treatyso that you can appreciate firsthand the threats coming from the global north including America.

2. Forward the alert to anyone of influence in the 79 countries listed below and plead with them to lobby their president or prime minister not to signby giving them the links to treaty harm analysis above.

3. Personally sign the petition on the FWI DeviousEUTreaty.org website that calls on governments not to sign the treaty, or at a minimum to amend the treaty to say that nothing in the treaty creates obligations regarding abortion, CSE, sexual or transgender rights. (Even if your government does sign on to the treaty, the petition could make a difference after the signing to help your country withdraw or to prevent parliaments from ratifying the treaty.)

The danger for members of the ACP is that if this treaty succeeds, much of the work over the past 24 years helping developing nations reject the EU’s sexual-social and moral destruction of their culture and values and sexualization of their children will be for naught. The onslaught of the diversity of the global cultural values is in earnest. For the preservation of the respective cultural values of the ACP countries is at stake: such matters as how we raise our children, the natural families, religious freedom and everything the different cultures hold dear, stand to be wiped out by signing the devious NPA.

The ACP countries are as follows:

AFRICAN COUNTRIES

Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Micronesia, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

CARIBBEAN COUNTRIES

Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago.

PACIFIC COUNTRIES

Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

If these countries agree to the NPA, they will lose their sovereignty, their voting rights, and all European traditions and cultural values would overturn the traditions and cultural values of the 79 countries. Citizens of these countries must not forget where all this is coming from; they must always have the long lenses on and ask, “why is this happening?”

The answer is always the manipulators that have come, taken the mineral-rich resources especially of the African continent, gotten rich, and come back to sell the ACP countries manufactured goods at huge prices that forces them to brow money from EU/West to buy to survive using goods made from raw materials in the ACP’s backyard. They want to lecture us about human rights.

This is not what democracy, human rights, respect for other people’s cultures looks like!
