Malawi president names Ulemu Chilapondwa to replace Sidik Mia as transport minister

President Banda made the appointment on Saturday, just a day after Mia announced his resignation.

Chilapondwa as a deputy minister of agriculture cannot be spared on unprofessional handling of Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP). During his time, people have also witnessed the acute shortage of maize in the country’s Admarc depot.

Mia conducted a press conference in Blantyre on Friday where he broke the news of his resignation. Asked on his next move, Mia declined to comment but said he wants to lead a private life.

However, MaraPost is reliably informed that Mia will be joining Malawi Congress Party (MCP) where he will be picked as a running mate to president Lazarus Chakwera in the May election.

Recently, Vice president of ruling PP responsible for central region Cassim Chilumpha also dumped the party over internal conflict.
