Malawi finance minister doesn’t have documented evidence of Presidential Jet sale

The conference, aimed at thoroughly examining the current political and economic challenges facing the country saw the Cashgate and Jetgate forming the backbone of the meeting.

Asked to explain how the transactions of the Jet were done, Nkwezalamba failed to give the details of the account to which the money was deposited.

Nkwezalamba just said: “The presidential Jet was sold and government used money to buy maize and to support UN peacekeeping operations.”

Malawians were made to believe that the Dassault Falcon 900EX was sold to a company linked to arms dealer paramount but the proceeds from the sale of the Jet cannot be traced as they did not go through the account number 1 of the Central Bank.
