Fela, Tupac inspire me – Singer Gmoney

A budding singer, George Imadiyi, aka Gmoney, has said he gets inspiration for his songs from two deceased legendary singers, Tupac Shakur and Fela Kuti.

In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, Gmoney said, “I am inspired by love, happiness, Tupac Shakur, Fela Kuti and Talent of Benin-the Idemudias. They are my role models.”

The afrobeat/afropop singer also stated that he will be launching his new album titled ‘Royalty’ in Milan, Italy, later in the month. Signed under Keymaker Record Label in Milan, the Edo State-born singer has won some awards in Europe including ‘Best Indigenous Artiste of the Year’ at the African Diaspora Merits Award in 2018; ‘Best Afrobeat Song of the Year’ at the Edisa Award in 2019; and ‘Edo Cultural Best Lyrical Artiste of the Year’ in 2020 in Italy.

On how he handles challenges, the father of three said, “I don’t really believe in challenges because whatever I have been through is a stepping stone to where I am now and where I am still going.

“I see challenges as opportunities to move ahead. For now, I have not had my greatest moment yet. I believe I have a bright future ahead of me.”

Advising up-and-coming artistes who yearn for success, Gmoney said, “Always be yourself and believe that anything is possible. There is a space for everyone to shine.”
