Uganda revives national airline, makes first trip in 20 years

Uganda’s national carrier has been revived with the airline making a trip to Kenya for the first time in two decades. Uganda Airlines was first founded in 1976 and but was grounded in 2001 due to financial challenges, corruption and asset-stripping. Air Tanzania aircraft seized by South African authorities

A plane owned by Tanzania’s state-run airline was seized in Johannesburg by South African authorities, a senior government official said. Mr Leonard Chamuriho, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications, said in a statement that the plane belonging to Air Tanzania Company Limited was seized Friday following an order by the Gauteng High Court of South Africa. “We are working to ensure that the plane is released immediately,” said Mr Chamuriho. Kenya: Plane aborts take-off after tyre stuck in pothole

A Fly540 pilot was forced to abort take-off at the Manda Airport in Lamu in Kenya after one of the plane’s tyre was stuck in a pothole on the runway. No one was hurt but the 36 passengers aboard the Nairobi-bound plane were reported to be in a state of shock and fear. Madagascar: British student dies after opening plane door

Police in Madagascar have revealed that a British student who was studying at the Cambridge University died after falling from a plane. The student, according to police fell to her death on the African island nation when she opened the door of a small plane in mid-air. Alana Cutland, 19 was from Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire.
