Morocco pulls out as host of African Para Games in 2020

Morocco has pulled out of hosting the maiden African Para Games slated for 26 to 31 January 2020. The country’s capital city of Rabat was to host the first ever African Para Games to develop the game. According to a letter from the African Paralympic Committee (APC) sent to the National Paralympic Committee of the various countries, the decision was made due to unresolved issues between the APC and Moroccan authorities. Morocco’s king Mohammed VI has pardoned a female journalist jailed for allegedly having an “illegal” abortion. Hajar Raissouni, 28 was also accused of having sexual relations outside of her marriage and jailed for a year in September. Her Sudanese fiance and gynaecologist have also been jailed one and two-years, respectively over the issue. Morocco: King Mohammed VI ill, suffers viral lung infection

The monarch of Morocco, King Mohammed VI has reportedly suffered a viral lung infection. His doctors have now asked him to take a long rest to recover. The illness forced him to miss a remembrance ceremony in Paris for France’s late president Jacques Chirac.
