Over 15 civilians killed in eastern Congo by militants

Suspected Islamist militants killed at least 15 people overnight in eastern Congo, local officials said on Saturday, in the latest massacre since the army launched a major offensive against the rebels last month. Burkinabe army outposts attacked, five killed

Militants have launched two attacks on military outposts in northern Burkina Faso, killing five people. The Burkinabe army said on Saturday that four soldiers and one police officer were killed in the attacks. A statement from the army said unidentified assailants attacked a military position in the town of Bahn and another in the village of Yense in the early hours of Saturday. Nigeria frees 25 kids cleared of ties with Boko Haram

25 children with suspected ties with Boko Haram have been released by the Nigerian army. They were released on Thursday after being cleared of such suspected ties with the militant group. Boko Haram has been attacking citizens in the country’s restive northeast region, killing thousands and displacing millions. At least 29 killed in two attacks in Burkina Faso

Authorities in Burkina Faso have said that at least 29 people were killed in the country’s troubled north on Sunday. First an attack carried out on a food convoy led to the death of 14 civilians. Then a truck also hit an explosive device in Sanmatenga province killing 15 people and wounding six.
