No Tune up games for Malawi Flames in readiness for Mali

AFCON CupBLANTYRE (EltasZone) – – Lack of adequate funding and time has forced the Flames not to have a tune-up match ahead of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying match against Mali, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has disclosed. 

Malawi start their qualifier campaign on September 6 away to Mali and face Ethiopia a week later at Kamuzu stadium. This means Flames will not also have time to arrange any friendly matches before the Ethiopia game.

Sudanese Refs to officiate Malawi-Ghana tie in Lilongwe

Asamoah Prince from Accra44-year old Sudanese referee Khalid Abdel Rahman has been named as the centre man for the 2013 AFCON 2nd leg final qualifying match between the Flames of Malawi and the Black Stars of Ghana scheduled for the Civo Stadium, Lilongwe on Saturday, October 13, footy-Ghana.com can confirm.

The experienced Sudanese centre man who has been an international referee since 2001, has handled 2 games involving the Black Stars in his 40 international matches he has officiated so far.

Ghana recalls Paintsil, Addy, Mensah for qualifier against Malawi Flames

Malawi Flames Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah recalled defenders John Paintsil, Jonathan Mensah and David Addy on Tuesday as the Black Stars look to qualify for next year’s African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Appiah also included Espanyol midfielder Wakaso Mubarak and local player Daniel Nii Adjei in the national squad for the first time ahead of the decisive final round of qualifying games in less than two weeks.

Ghana leads Malawi 2-0 ahead of the second leg in Malawi and aims to avoid the struggles of other major African nations.
