Somalia: Car bomb explosion kills several at checkpoint

A car bomb explosion at a checkpoint on the outskirts of the Somali capital, Mogadishu has killed several people. According to media reports a shootout took place between security forces and three attackers, who got out of a vehicle laden with explosives. A fuel tanker explosion on Sunday has killed at least nine people, with several others reportedly unaccounted for. Local media reported that the incident occurred in Kyambura trading centre, Rubirizi District, in western Uganda. A fuel tanker explosion in Tanzania has killed at least 60 people. Over 60 others have sustained severe injuries after the tanker exploded in the town of Morogoro, around 120 miles west of the capital Dar es Salaam.
