At least 78 people killed in Ethiopian protests

Ethiopian officials say at least 78 people were killed during protests last week over the treatment of a prominent activist. The prime minister’s spokeswoman Billene Seyoum told reporters on Thursday that 409 people had been detained over the unrest. Ethiopia’s Abiy Ahmed wins 2019 Nobel Peace Prize

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed has been named the winner of the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize. He was awarded the Nobel for his efforts to “achieve peace and international cooperation” within the East African sub-region.
