Madagascar launches Covid-19 Capsule Cure

– –

Madagascar has launched capsules from its much touted “Covid-Organics” herbal cure for the coronavirus.

The capsules contain extracts of a local Malagasy plant artemisia which has proven anti-malarial properties.

The tablets also have other indigenous herbs such as ravintsara with officials saying it is effective in curing and treating coronavirus infections.

The previous herbal remedy called ‘COVID-Organics'(CVO) was developed by the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research.

More than a quarter of Madagascar’s 26 million inhabitants have so far taken that drink, with nine million bottles still in stock.

The latest capsule product was launched on Friday outside Antananarivo by local pharmaceutical company Pharmagalasy.

The capsule is to be sold across the world with 275 million in stock and the capacity to produce 32,000 CVO+ capsules per day.

The content of the capsule has not been scientifically tested and proven to be effective in curing Covid-19 just like the herbal mixture previously.

President Andry Rajoelina said the launch of the product was a source of pride after earlier also touting the effectiveness of the herbal drink in fighting Covid-19.

He said “We have distributed 7 million doses, which have largely limited the spread of the virus, and as you can see today, Madagascar is on the verge of totally defeating coronavirus, unlike other countries.

Those who struggle to ingest the infusion can now take this CVO+ capsule that will be sold across the world.”

Madagascar has 16,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with some 200 related deaths.
