EndSARS: Nigeria’s Vice president promises justice for those killed

– –

Nigeria’s Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo has said those killed in the past days during the ongoing protests against police brutalities will get justice.

He made the promise following reports of at least 49 people dying amid the protests across the country.

43 protesters and six policemen lost their lives in the violence that erupted during the protests.

The shooting by soldiers into unarmed protesters on Tuesday at the Lekki toll gate in the commercial hub Lagos has sparked global outrage.

Amnesty International has said at least 12 people were killed by soldiers and police in two locations in the city.

The Nigeria’s army dismissed the reports as “fake news” despite video evidence of soldiers shooting at protesters.

The vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo said in a tweet that “The pain of these terrible events is palpable in our towns and cities, and some losses are irreplaceable, but we can and will get justice for all of them.”

Global leaders have all condemned the use of force by the security forces against protesters.
