Africans are not doing enough for starving Somalia

Somalia woman with childLet me begin by expressing my sincere appreciation to freedom of publication and expression. I am dismayed by and dissatisfied with the famine in the horn of Africa.  Millions of lives in Somalia are at risk and necessary initiatives are needed to save these lives, yet no visible effort could be seen, whether from individual African countries or through the African Union (AU).

“Don’t let ‘oil rush’ gets the better of you”

Images from NamibiaNamibia’s rich offshore oil finds, estimated to be in the tens of billions of barrels, could be promising, but not as yet, say economists.
A group economist and industry advisor of Capricorn Investment Holdings (CIH), Rowland Brown, warns; “it seems a little early to be lighting the candles and cutting the cake”. Brown made the sobering statement in his latest regular economic opinion piece titled “Black Gold”, published and distributed under the auspices of CIH.
