President of Gabon Ali Bongo has made his first live appearance in public nearly 10 months after suffering a stroke. He was seen walking with a stick while attending ceremonies in the capital Libreville. President Bongo suffered stroke last year during a trip to Saudi Arabia. Nigeria: Teenager stages own kidnap to raise money for party

A 15-year-old boy in Nigeria’s city of Jos staged his own kidnap and demanded a ransom from his father for his release. The teenager and four of his older friends have all been arrested by police in Jos and are all now in custody. They had demanded a $1,365 (500,000 naira) ransom from the teenager’s father to spend on a school-leaving graduation party. The Gambian footballer Bakery Jatta is currently facing a probe from Germany’s football federation the DFB after reports of him having a double identity. Nigeria’s Shia leader refuses medical treatment in India

The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who traveled to India for medical leave has refused to undergo medical treatment. He traveled to India this week with his wife after securing a medical leave from custody since their detention in 2015. Nigeria: Woman who locked child in dog cage arrested

Police in Nigeria’s commercial hub of Lagos have arrested a woman caught on video assaulting and locking a boy in a dog cage. There was huge  public outrage in Nigeria after the woman was captured in the viral video that went viral on social media. A Nigerian pastor, Joseph Nwajueze has been killed in China by security operatives. He was reportedly escaping arrest from security operatives for alleged visa violations.
